The goals weren’t flashy, but Twin City did the job it needed to do as the Steel defeated the Breezy Point North Stars on Saturday by a 3-0 decision in White Bear Lake.
Mikko Aho started the scoring at 2:37, scoring his seventh goal of the season on even strength. Aho had assists come from the likes of Matthias Ahman and Aharon Lara on the goal that would end up being the game winner. Late in the opening stanza, Twin City got help of the shorthanded variety when Jordan Pitlick potted his ninth goal of the year (twelve total points) at 19:35. TC’s Jake McGlocklin was serving a slashing minor at the time of Pitlick’s goal.
Aharon Lara would score the game’s final goal (and notch his second point of the night in the process) as he scored the game’s third goal at 18:19 of the second frame. Matthias Ahman got a secondary assist on the goal which had a primary assist from Chris Skordilis. Lara’s goal came on a power play stemming from a Breezy Point series of penalties to Jack Anderholm for instigation and fighting at 13:03.
Twin City finished 1-2 on the night with power plays while Breezy Point was 0-3 in its attempts. Twin City also outshot Breezy Point by a 29-18 margin.
