KREUSER’S TWO GOALS NOT ENOUGH IN 5-2 LOSS TO ALEXANDRIA

New Ulm was down 3-2 midway through the second period. Alexandria scored twice in the second period to take a 5-2 lead. New Ulm had a chance to catch up, but couldn’t capitalize on the five minute power play opportunity and registered only three shots on goal in the third period. New Ulm struggled with puck possession for the majority of the game and ultimately fell short, 5-2.

Luc Kreuser scored at 5:12 into the second period to get New Ulm on the board. Kreuser scored again 36 seconds later to get New Ulm within one goal of Alexandria. Assists on both goals were credited to Alex Nagel and Max Kjome.

Alexandria’s Dawson Ellingworth opened the scored at 2:43 into the first period with assists from Josiah Roen and Mack Strong. Jack Cernohous, assisted by Josiah Roen, scored a short-handed goal at 14:35 to give Alexandria a 2-0 lead to start the second period.

Emil Lindfors scored for Alexandria five minutes into the second period to take a 3-0 lead over New Ulm. Tosten Mann and Caleb Anderson also registered one goal each in the second period. Emil Lindfors had an additional two assists on those goals. Brenden Payne also registered one assist for Alexandria.

Alexandria’s goaltender, Brey Effertz, made 17 saves on New Ulm’s season low of 19 shots on goal. Jon Albers faced 32 shots and made 27 saves for New Ulm.

New Ulm had a total of 12 penalty minutes on six infractions and went 0-for-4 on the power play. Alexandria totaled eight infractions and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
