NEW ULM LOSES TO BREEZY POINT, 5-2, DESPITE AN EARLY TWO GOAL LEAD

New Ulm had an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Breezy Point had a successful comeback and beat New Ulm 5-2. Shots were 40-30 in favor of Breezy Point.

Cory Martinez opened the scoring at 3:19 into the first period. Vincent Billing was credited with the assist. Sam Wenner, assisted by Alex Egle and Max Kjome, scored at 14:15 to give New Ulm a 2-0 lead.

Christian Lenzmeier scored at 15:07 into the first period with assists from Mitchell El-Wailli and Austin Langworthy. The first period ended with New Ulm holding on to a 2-1 lead.

Breezy Points’ Wyatt Stotts scored the lone goal in the second period, assisted by Josh Laven, to tie the game up at 2-2. Breezy Point scored three goals in the third period. Alex Flicek and Cyril Nagurski scored just over a minute apart in the third period to put Breezy Point up 4-2. Christian Lenzmeier netted his second goal of the night on New Ulm’s empty net with 31 seconds remaining in the game. Lenzmeier also registered one assist. Matej Krasny, Andrew Heckaman and Nikolas Boyer each got one assist.

Nathan Siclovan stopped 35 out of 39 shots for New Ulm. Magnus Lindhe faced 30 shots and only let two get past him for Breezy Point.

Neither team was able to capitalize on the power plays. Combined, the game had a total of 35 penalty minutes, with eight infractions for each team, totaling 16 infractions.
