New Ulm and Granite City were tied 1-1 at the end of the second period. Granite City scored in the third period to take a 2-1 lead. New Ulm pulled Nathan Siclovan for an extra attacker with 1:29 remaining in the game. Granite City was able to hold on to the lead and took the, 2-1, win over New Ulm. Shots were 36-24 in favor of Granite City.
Granite City’s first goal of the game was scored by Keenan Lund, with assists from Ryan Smith and William Sprink, 1:49 into the second period on the power play. Owen Sikich scored the game-winning goal for Granite City at 8:36 into the third period. Will Mix and Brady Dahl were credited with the assists.
Nathan Siclovan stopped 34 of the 36 shots he faced for New Ulm. Granite City’s goaltender, David Mulligan, made 23 saves.
Jared Erickson had three minor penalties called against him. New Ulm and Granite City each went 1-for-4 on the power play and totaled 18 penalty minutes on five infractions.
