PADLEY BREAKS TIE TO SEAL, 4-3, VICTORY AND WEEKEND SWEEP

New Ulm and Breezy Point were tied 3-3 at the end of the second period. Jacob Padley, assisted by Sam Storlie and Bennett Witta, scored with less than three minutes remaining in the third period to give New Ulm the 4-3 win. Shots were 55-30 in favor of New Ulm.

Breezy Point opened the scoring at 10:24 into the first period with a power play goal from Austin Langworthy and assists from Nikolas Boyer and Andrew Heckaman.

Jared Mickelson scored on the power play with 27 seconds left in the first period to tie the game up at 1-1. The assists were credited to Sam Wenner and Jared Erickson.

Tristyn Sabina, with an assist from Josh Laven, scored at 2:06 into the second period to put Breezy Point up 2-1.

Three goals were scored just 14 seconds apart in the third period. Wyatt Peterson, assisted by Jared Mickelson and Bennett Witta, scored at 18:08 to make the score 2-2. Sam Wenner scored eight seconds later to give New Ulm a 3-2 lead. Jared Erickson and Cory Martinez were credited with the assists. Breezy Point’s Steven Kukla scored at 18:22 to tie the game up at 3-3 to end the second period.

Nathan Siclovan made 27 saves on the 30 shots he faced for New Ulm. Breezy Point’s goaltender, Magnus Lindhe, faced 55 shots and made 51 saves.

New Ulm had a total of 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Breezy Point totaled 16 penalty minutes on eight infractions and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
