NEW ULM CLOSES OUT SEASON WITH A HARD FOUGHT WEST DIVISION FINALS LOSS TO GRANITE CITY, 4-2

New Ulm was trailing Granite City 3-1 early in the third period. Dylan Leivermann scored at the 8:32 mark of the third period, with assists from Vincent Billing and Orlando Scherz, to get New Ulm within one goal of Granite City. Brady Dahl scored with 1:19 remaining in the game to put Granite City up 4-2.

Granite City took an early 1-0 lead 22 seconds into the first period with a goal from Braden Altena. Dahl and Keenan Lund were credited with the assists.

Casey Esselman gave Granite City a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 5:02 of the first period.

Fritz Belisle got New Ulm on the board with 24 seconds remaining in the first period with a power-play goal, assisted by Sam Storlie and Steven Mordini.

Matthew Moran, assisted by Spencer Nelson, extended Granite City’s lead to 3-1 at the 1:48 mark of the third period with a shorthanded goal.

Nathan Siclovan faced 34 shots and made 30 saves for New Ulm. Granite City’s goaltender, Mac Berglove, made 19 saves on the 21 shots he faced.

New Ulm totaled 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Granite City also had a total of 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
