NEW ULM FALLS SHORT IN SO, 4-3, TO WILLMAR

New Ulm and Willmar were all tied up 3-3 at the end of regulation time. The game was forced into overtime and ultimately a shootout where Willmar was able to grab the win.

Tom Reilly opened the scoring with a power-play goal 4:04 into the first period. Nick Wieben and Jack Parks were credited with the assists.

Kirk Coppock netted two goals for New Ulm, both in the second period and assisted by Luc Kreuser and Alex Nagel.

Jordan Cooper also scored two goals in the second period for Willmar, with one being a power-play goal.

Willmar’s Jacob Berkowitz tied the game at 6:54 of the third period. The assists were credited to Jacob Takashima and Riley Dixon. Cameron Pries scored the game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout.

Ryan Bielenberg faced 41 shots and made 37 saves for New Ulm. Willmar’s goaltender, Brady Anderson, stopped 31 of the 34 shots New Ulm generated.

New Ulm had a total of 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Willmar totaled 31 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
