NEW ULM DROPS OT DECISION TO ALEXANDRIA

New Ulm was trailing Alexandria 4-2 with just over five minutes remaining in regulation time. Vitaliy Nosov and Jack Parks netted one each to tie the game up at 4-4 and force the game into overtime. Alexandria scored 18 seconds into overtime to take the, 5-4, win.

Marco Zink and Josiah Roen gave Alexandria a 2-0 lead in the first period, scoring less than a minute apart.

Bayler Kraus got New Ulm on the board 17:25 into the first period to cut Alexandria’s lead to 2-1. Brandon Mehlhop and Nosov were credited with the assists.

New Ulm’s Kirk Coppock and Alexandria’s Alec Skar each struck in the second period to make the score 3-2.

David Carey gave Alexandria a 4-2 lead early in the third period. The assists were credited to Logan Nelson, who tallied three assists total, and Roen.

Alec MoserNick Wieben and Jimmy Miller each added an assist and Alex Nagel contributed two assists for New Ulm.

Ryan Bielenberg faced 22 shots and made 17 saves. Alexandria’s goaltender, Brady Meyers, made 30 saves on the 34 shots he faced.

New Ulm totaled six penalty minutes on three infractions and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Alexandria had a total of 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
