Ryan Kenny registered a shutout in his season debut, which was delayed by a preseason injury. He made 20 saves to power New Ulm to victory.

Alec Moser made a great pass from behind New Ulm’s net, up to Tom Reilly on the blue line. Reilly carried the puck through the neutral zone, straight to the net and buried it for the first goal of the game 16:31 into the second period.

Both goalies were statistically perfect in the first and third periods. Willmar’s goaltender, Luke Fry, made 24 saves on the 25 shots he faced.

New Ulm and Willmar each totaled four penalty minutes on two infractions and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
