New Ulm is on a seven-game winning streak with this victory. Ryan Kenny registered his second shutout of the season, making 40 saves, to power New Ulm to the, 1-0, win over Granite City.
Tom Reilly scored his ninth goal of the season in the first period at the 10:26 mark. Jimmy Miller cleared the puck up to the far blue line from the bottom of the circle. Granite City’s Tom Nagle jumped on the puck in their zone. Reilly stole the puck to take back possession, carried it to the net on the left, and slid the puck behind David Mulligan.
Granite City’s goaltender, Mulligan, was pulled with just over one minute remaining in regulation time. New Ulm was able to stave off Granite City from tying the game.
Mulligan also had a great night in net for Granite City, allowing only one puck to get past him on the 32 shots New Ulm generated.
New Ulm totaled 16 penalty minutes on eight infractions and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Granite City had a total of 18 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 0-for-6 on the power play.
