NEW ULM STEEL AT NA3HL TOP PROSPECTS TOURNAMENT

New Ulm Steel head coach Andrew Kolb, forwards Ryan Smith and Alex Nagel, Defensemen Steven Mordini and goaltender Ryan Kenny have spent the last two days in Plymouth, Michigan at the USA Hockey Arena for the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament.

Kolb’s Grey(Frontier/West) team ended the tournament with a 0-3 record. They played both of the 18U Selects teams and the Green(Northeast/South) team.

Smith, Nagel and Mordini all managed to get on the stat sheet in the Grey teams’ 3-2 loss to the Green team. Smith scored both of the goals with single assists from Nagel on each of them. Steven Mordini didn’t contribute any points, but did get a minor penalty. Box Score

Ryan Kenny played a total of 76:30 minutes for the 18U Selects White team and faced a combined total of 32 shots and made 28 saves. Kenny’s 18U Selects White team had a 3-0 record including a win over the Grey team, 6-1 Wednesday morning, with Nagel getting the primary assist on the Grey team’s lone goal. Box Score

Kolb and the players are headed back to New Ulm to prepare for the weekend series in Wausau, Wisconsin with the RiverWolves, Friday and Saturday night.
