Steel Tryouts End with Several Signings

With 40 skaters over the 3 day weekend the Steel coaches, staff and scouts had an opportunity to add some crucial pieces to the roster for the 2013-14 season and that is exactly what they were able to do.

The Steel Tryout which was held at the home rink in Vadnais Heights consisted of 5 scrimmages and 2 practice sessions that not only tested the individual players skill set, but the endurance and the didication that each player was able to show during during this offseason.

"The camp was set up in a way that we were able to see who had been putting in the effort during the summer months. The long day on Saturday showed exactly that as certain players jumped to the front of the line as others endurance levels began to slow." said Steel General Manager Bryant Black.

Head Coach Aaron Koosman stated that he was extremely happy with the players he was able to grab. "They fit the mold as hockey players and as people that we are looking to become a part of the Steel.  With the veterans that we have returning and the new additions our goal is still the same, to play at the national level come April."

The Steel will host one more invite tryout August 16-18th before players report for the 2013-2014 season.
