ROMEOVILLE, Illinois-Twin City Steel goaltender Jordan Moran made 28 saves and recorded his second shutout of the season as the Steel defeated the Cincinnati Swords 4-0 on Friday afternoon at Romeoville Rink 3. This was the Steel’s first game of the NA3HL Showcase.
Alexander Konnov got the Steel on the board early with an unassisted goal at 3:45. Two minutes later Ben Ihrie lit the lamp to extend the Steel lead. Tony Arias and Tyler Lodin picked up assists on the goal. The Steel ended the period up 2-0 over the Swords.
There was no scoring in the second period, but the Steel’s penalty kill was put to the test. The Swords were given three power play opportunities and were unable to convert on any of them. Jordan Moran made 13 saves and the score remained 2-0 Steel at the end of the period.
Forward Chase Myers-Beck found the net at 2:12 of the third period to put the Steel up 3-0. Assists were given to Tanner Duffney and Jake McAfee. Just 0:47 later, Jace Childs scored shorthanded while Isaac Hale and Mathias Ahman tallied assists on the goal. Jordan Moran made five saves during the period to give the Steel a 4-0 shutout over the Swords.
