Willmar, trailing 3-1 at the end of the second period, scored two goals in the third period in hopes of making a comeback. New Ulm was able to hold onto the lead and beat Willmar 4-3.

Riley Dixon, with assists from Danny Nugent and Leonardo Ewald, opened the scoring early in the first period to give Willmar a 1-0 lead.

Fritz Belisle, assisted by Alex Nagel, scored the first goal for New Ulm to tie it up 1-1. Jared Erickson also scored in the first period with assists being credited to Jacob Padley and Bennett Witta to give New Ulm a 2-1 lead to start the second period. Bennett Witta, with an assist from Fritz Belisle, scored the lone goal in the second period on the power play to give New Ulm a 3-1 lead.

Willmar’s Kane Toriumi scored at 5:23 into the third period. Assists were credited to Dylan Gast and Alex Syring. Willmar’s other third period goal was scored by Alex Syring with 5:57 remaining in the game.

New Ulm’s only goal in the third period was scored by Erik Rainersson, assisted by Alex Nagel and Fritz Belisle, on the power play at 9:57 into the third period.
