New Ulm was trailing Granite City 7-2 late in the third period. Sam Wenner, assisted by Luc Kreuser and Vitaliy Nosov, scored with just under two minutes left in regulation time for a final score of 7-3.

Granite City had a 2-0 lead with less than two minutes left in the first period, with goals from Owen Sikich and Jack Petroske.

Cory Martinez, with assists from Vincent Billing and Tim O’Connor, got New Ulm on the board at 18:09 into the first period. Jared Erickson tied the game up at 2-2 with 46 seconds left in the first period. Max Kjome was credited with the assist.

Granite City scored four goals in the second period. Braden Altena, Brycon Johnson, Matthew Sprink and Horka Sekesi scored one goal each. Granite City started the third period with a 6-2 lead. Brady Dahl, assisted by Jack Walter, scored Granite City’s final goal of the game at 6:27 into the third period.

Nathan Siclovan made 34 saves on the 41 shots he faced for New Ulm. Granite City’s goaltender, Mac Berglove, stopped 31 of the 34 shots New Ulm generated.

Both teams were successful on penalty kills. New Ulm had a total of six penalty minutes on three infractions and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Granite City totaled 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
