Willmar’s Max Oelkers, assisted by Jordan Cooper and Jacob Dobberstein, scored with 1:49 remaining in the third period to tie the game up at 3-3 and force the game into overtime. Fritz Belisle scored 40 seconds into overtime to get New Ulm the, 4-3, win.

New Ulm scored their three regulation goals all in the second period. Cory Martinez opened the scoring for New Ulm at the 3:11 mark of the second period. Jared Erickson, with an assist from Sam Wenner, scored 10:31 into the second period and tied the game up at 2-2.

Orlando Scherz scored one goal and registered two assists for New Ulm. Scherz scored in the second period at 17:05 to give New Ulm a 3-2 lead. He tallied assists on Cory Martinez’s goal and Fritz Belisle’s game-winning goal in overtime.  

Riley Tigrett scored the only goal of the first period at 10:56 for Willmar. Assists were credited to Dylan Gast and Alec Skar. Jordan Cooper, assisted by Gabe Gauer and Riley Dixon, scored Willmar’s second goal of the game 6:11 into the second period on the power play.

Jon Albers made 30 saves on the 33 shots he faced for New Ulm. Willmar’s goaltender, Nick Althaus, faced 34 shots and made 30 saves.

New Ulm totaled 12 penalty minutes on six infractions and went 0-for-1 on the power play. Willmar had a total of two penalty minutes on one infraction and went 2-for-6 on the power play.
