New Ulm scored one goal in the first period and five goals in both the second and third period to take down Willmar 11-2.

Luc Kreuser scored the lone goal of the first period at 8:04 with an assist from Fritz Belisle. Kreuser scored his second goal of the game at 4:20 into the second period to give New Ulm a 2-0 lead. The assists were credited to Jared Erickson and Sam Storlie. Kreuser netted a hat trick in the third period at 10:02 with assists from Alex Nagel and Belisle.

Stephan Hermkes gave New Ulm a 3-0 lead at 8:20 into the second period. Nicholas Campbell and Jacob Padley were credited with the assists.

Sam Wenner scored a goal in both the second and the third period. Wenner put New Ulm up 4-0 at 8:52 into the second period with assists from Erickson and Storlie. Wenner scored a short-handed goal at 9:04 into the third period. Padley was credited with the assist.

Belisle netted a pair of goals against Willmar. Belisle’s first goal was scored at 10:25 into the second period, assisted by Kreuser and Storlie. Belisle, with assists from Nagel and Storlie, scored his second goal of the game at 4:34 into the third period.

Vincent Billing, Padley and Mac Hankinson each contributed one short-handed goal for New Ulm. Wenner, Trevor Woytcke, Belisle, and Cory Martinez each registered an assist in the third period.

Jacob Dobberstein scored both of Willmar’s goals. Dobberstein’s first goal was unassisted at 8:57 into the second period. His second goal of the night was scored on the power play with 1:34 remaining in the game with assists from Riley Tigrett and Kyle Wendorf.

Nathan Siclovan played the first two periods and made 25 saves on the 26 shots he faced. Brady Boudreau replaced Siclovan in net to start the third period with New Ulm up 6-1. Boudreau faced eight shots and made seven saves.

Willmar’s goaltender,  Alex Weissenborn, played for 28:52 and made 20 saves on 24 shots. Weissenborn was replaced by Alex Cathcart at 8:52 into the second period with New Ulm leading 4-0. Cathcart faced 18 shots and made 11 saves.

New Ulm totaled 14 penalty minutes on seven infractions and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Orlando Scherz sat for four of New Ulm’s seven penalties. Willmar had a total of six penalty minutes on three infractions and went 1-for-6 on the power play.
