New Ulm took an early 3-0 lead over Alexandria in the first period. Alexandria was only able to net two goals and New Ulm ultimately defeated Alexandria, 6-2.  

Alex Nagel, with assists from Jared Mickelson and Fritz Belisle, opened the scoring for New Ulm at 4:29 into the first period.

Dylan Leivermann scored on the power play at 11:16 into the first period. The assists were credited to Orlando Scherz and Mickelson. Nicholas Campbell scored unassisted at 13:23 into the first period to put New Ulm up 3-0.

Brenden Payne, with assists from Emil Lindfors and Connor Nilson, got Alexandria on the board with a power play goal at 17:05 into the first period.

Orlando Scherz scored the lone goal in the second period at 2:13 to give New Ulm a 4-1 lead.

Alex Nagel and Sam Wenner each scored one goal in the third period. Luc Kreuser, Sam Storlie and Jared Erickson each registered an assist in the third period.

Alexandria’s David Carey scored the last goal of the night with 23 seconds remaining in the game. Riley Meyer and Tony Haley were credited with the assists.

Jon Albers made 26 saves on the 28 shots he faced for New Ulm. Alexandria’s starting goaltender, Brey Effertz, let in three goals on the nine shots he faced in the first period. Effertz was pulled at 13:23 into the first period and replaced by Michael Hughes. Hughes faced 26 shots and made 23 saves.

New Ulm totaled 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Alexandria had a total of 18 penalty minutes on nine infractions and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
