Granite City had a 3-2 lead over New Ulm midway through the third period. Fritz Belisle, assisted by Luc Kreuser and Alex Nagel, scored at the 9:56 mark of the third period to tie the game up at 3. The game ended in a shootout with Granite City’s Matthew Sprink scoring the game-winning goal. New Ulm outshot Granite City 27-25.

Nagel opened the scoring 7:04 into the first period with assists from Belisle and Trevor Woytcke.

Granite City answered back with a short-handed goal from Cole Buhl at 8:42 of the first period. Brady Dahl, with assists from Braden Altena and Ryan Smith, scored at the 10:53 mark of the first period to put Granite City up 2-1 to start the second period.

Steven Mordini scored the only goal in the second period at 11:11 to tie the game up at 2. Belisle and Kreuser were credited with the assists.

Matthew Moran, with assists from Will Mix and Ben Haugo, gave Granite City a 3-2 lead 5:44 into the third period.

Nathan Siclovan faced 24 shots and made 21 saves for New Ulm. Granite City’s goaltender, Mac Berglove, made 24 saves on the 27 shots New Ulm generated.

New Ulm totaled four penalty minutes on two infractions and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Granite City had a total of eight penalty minutes on four infractions and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
