New Ulm started out strong, ending the first period with a 2-0 lead over Granite City. New Ulm allowed Granite City to score two goals in the second period to start the third period all tied up at 2-2. Granite City completed the comeback win in the third period with a goal from Eric Moser at 8:59 with an assist from Matthew Moran. New Ulm was outshot 31-27.
Jared Erickson got New Ulm on the board at the 4:37 mark of the first period. The assists were credited to Nicholas Campbell and Alex Egle.
Dylan Leivermann netted New Ulm’s second goal at 15:42 of the first period. Cory Martinez and Orlando Scherz were credited with the assists.
Granite City’s Matthew Sprink and Brady Dahl each scored a goal in the second period. Logan Neu, Andrej Jamnicky, Keenan Lund and Brandon Baker each tallied an assist.
Nathan Siclovan stopped 28 of the 31 shots he faced for New Ulm. Granite City’s goaltender, Mac Berglove, made 25 saves on the 27 shots he faced.
New Ulm totaled 38 penalty minutes on six infractions and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Granite City had a total of four penalty minutes on two infractions and went 0-for-4 on the power play.
