New Ulm took a 1-0 series lead, defeating Granite City, 3-2. Nathan Siclovan had another incredible night in net, making 40 saves on the 42 shots he faced for New Ulm.  

Granite City tied the game up at 2-2 with a power-play goal from Andrej Jamnicky 14:22 into the third period with assists from Owen Sikich and Braden Altena.

Jared Erickson scored a short-handed goal with 3:42 remaining in the game off a beautiful pass from Sam Wenner. New Ulm was able to hold on to the 3-2 lead to take the win, despite being on a penalty kill for the last minute of the game.

Will Mix opened the scoring 2:15 into the first period to give Granite City an early 1-0 lead. Matthew Moran and Jack Petroske were credited with the assists.

Alex Egle tied the game up at 1-1 less than one minute later with a stunning breakaway goal.

Erickson gave New Ulm a 2-1 lead just 11 seconds into the second period. The assists were credited to Bennett Witta and Trevor Woytcke.

New Ulm totaled 41 penalty minutes on 10 infractions and went 0-for-5 on the power play. Granite City had a total of 39 penalty minutes on nine infractions and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
