New Ulm, MN – The New Ulm Steel is proud to announce that goaltender Jon Albers has committed to play Division III hockey at Augsburg College of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).
“I’m very excited to be a part of the Augsburg program and I’m looking forward to the opportunities I’ll have there,” Albers said.
Albers, a native of Blaine, Minnesota, played in the Steel organization for two years, playing in a total of 35 games throughout the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.
“I’d like to thank the whole Steel organization for believing in me and making the last two years such a great experience,” Albers said.
Albers, 20, had a significant impact on the Steel’s successes and character both on and off the ice through his outstanding work ethic and attitude.
Prior to his time with the Steel organization, Albers attended Centennial High School where he averaged a save percentage of .893 in 40 games played.
