New Ulm was leading Granite City 5-3 early in the third period. Granite City’s Owen Sikich and Noah Krueger each scored a goal in the last five minutes of regulation time to tie the game up 5-5. Cole Buhl scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give Granite City the, 6-5, win.

Granite City took an early lead 2:26 into the first period with a power-play goal from Sikich. Ryan Pearson scored at 17:06 of the first period to give Granite City a 2-0 lead.

Jimmy Miller cut Granite City’s lead to 2-1 at 18:02 of the first period. Tom Reilly and Max Kjome were credited with the assists.

New Ulm tied the game up at 2-2 with a goal from Alex Nagel, assisted by Luc Kreuser, 5:25 into the second period.

Kirk Coppock scored two goals for New Ulm in the second period just three minutes apart.

Nick Wieben was credited with New Ulm’s fifth goal 1:50 into the third period with an assist from Vitaliy Nosov.

Sam Storlie, Jack Parks, Kreuser, Nagel and Brandon Mehlhop each contributed one assist.

Granite City’s Braden Altena tallied three assists. Brandon Baker, Logan Neu, Brandon Bissett, Buhl and Kieran Brosnan each contributed one assist.

Granite City’s goaltender Kaden Ericson faced 24 shots and made 19 saves. Ryan Bielenberg stopped 22 of the 28 shots he faced for New Ulm.

New Ulm totaled six penalty minutes on three infractions and went 0-6 on the power play. Granite City had a total of 12 penalty minutes on six infractions and went 2-for-3 on the power play.
