New Ulm’s struggle with puck possession and an excessive amount of giveaways led to Willmar’s, 4-1, success.
New Ulm’s lone goal was scored late in the third period at 14:07 on the power play. Luc Kreuser made a quick pass to Trevor Woytcke from the point. Woytcke centered the puck to Tom Reilly in the slot who fired it into the back of the net.
Wyatt Toll, Max Oelkers, Zach Martin and Keegan Bauman each scored a goal for Willmar. Bauman and Martin each contributed two assists. Jonathan Koester, Braden Shea and Jordan Cooper tallied one assist each.
New Ulm totaled eight penalty minutes on four infractions and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Willmar had a total of 12 penalty minutes on six infractions and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
