Drew Schenkenberg made 32 saves in his New Ulm Steel debut to get the win over the Granite City Lumberjacks. New Ulm is currently at first place in the West Division with Granite City and the Alexandria Blizzard close behind.

With New Ulm trailing 3-2, David Mulligan left the net wide open for Austin Langworthy to successfully bury a rebound and score a power-play goal after making a save on Luc Kreuser’s wrister.

Alex Nagel went glove side to score the game-winning goal in the third period at 16:37 and give New Ulm a 4-3 lead. Trevor Woytcke scored on the empty net with one minute remaining in the game to seal the win, 5-3.  

Chase DiBari’s unassisted tally and Nick Castro’s second period goal, gave Granite City a 2-0 lead.

Hunter Johnson managed to find the back of the net in a scramble in front of the crease to get New Ulm on the board with a power-play goal at 15:10 of the second period.

Braden Altena extended Granite City’s lead to 3-1 at the 18:33 mark of the second period. Nagel went top shelf over the glove to get New Ulm within one, with 24 seconds remaining in the second period.

New Ulm totaled two penalty minutes on one infraction and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Granite City had a total of eight penalty minutes on four infractions and went 1-for-1 on the power play.
