The New Ulm Steel and the Alexandria Blizzard were all tied up at 1-1 when Luke Benson was awarded a penalty shot at 10:26 of the first period. Benson capitalized on the opportunity and put Alexandria in the lead. New Ulm was able to make a comeback and complete the weekend sweep with this, 4-2, win.

New Ulm scored two goals in the second period. Steven Mordini tied the game up at 2-2 with a wrister from the point 7:57 into the second period. Jack Parks scored the eventual game-winning goal and gave New Ulm a 3-2 lead at 14:02 with a shot from the slot that founds its way through traffic and into the back of the net.

Ryan Kenny made 20+ quality saves to keep the game at 3-2. Kenny faced a total of 43 shots and made 41 saves on Alexandria.

Jarrett Cammarata added a goal in the third period with 1:39 remaining in the game and Tom Reilly scored New Ulm’s first goal of the night.

With 35 seconds left, Alexandria’s Ryan Worley made a frightening hit on Nick Wieben that left Wieben down on the ice for a long time. Worley was given a boarding major and a game misconduct.

New Ulm totaled six penalty minutes on three infractions and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Alexandria totaled  29 penalty minutes on four infractions and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
