The New Ulm Steel blew a 4-1 lead, allowing the Alexandria Blizzard to score four unanswered goals. New Ulm out shot Alexandria 41-32.

Hunter Johnson opened the scoring in the first period at 10:38 with a shot from the slot that went in blocker side.

Alec Skar scored for Alexandria at 15:58 of the first period to tie the game up at 1-1.

New Ulm dominated the first half of the second period, with Austin Langworthy scoring two goals and Tom Reilly netting one.

Alexandria’s four unanswered goals started near the end of the second period with a goal scored by Josiah Roen. Brett Meister and Brenden Payne contributed one goal each in the first five minutes of the third period. Roen scored the game-winning goal at the 13:20 mark of the third period.

Ryan Kenny faced 32 shots and made 27 saves for New Ulm. Alexandria’s goaltender, Brady Meyers stopped 37 of the 41 shots he faced.

New Ulm totaled 10 penalty minutes on five infractions and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Alexandria had a total of 12 penalty minutes on six infractions and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
