The New Ulm Steel was trailing the North Iowa Bulls, current Central Division leaders, 3-2 until Nick Wieben jammed the puck home with 54 seconds remaining in regulation time. The game headed to overtime, which gave New Ulm a much-needed point to keep their first place position in the West Division.

Brendan Studioso got North Iowa the win in overtime with a goal at the 3:42 mark.

Sam Storlie opened the scoring with a one-timer on the power play at 4:55 of the first period. North Iowa controlled the scoring in the second period with goals from Aaron Swanson and Jarod Blackowiak to take a 2-1 lead.

Alex Nagel tied the game up at 2-2 with an assist from Zach Heiser at the 5:08 mark of the third period. Lucas McKinnon broke the tie to again push North Iowa past New Ulm 13:27 into the third period.

Ryan Kenny faced 41 shots and made 37 saves for New Ulm. North Iowa’s goaltender, Colin Cain, made 27 saves on the 30 shots he faced.

New Ulm and North Iowa each totaled eight penalty minutes on four infractions and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
