The New Ulm Steel had a 4-0 lead on the Wausau RiverWolves through the first two periods. Austin Burgener and Matt Irwin each scored a goal in the third period looking to make a comeback. Wausau’s goaltender, Henry Baribeau, was pulled for the extra attacker with one minute remaining in the game. New Ulm was able to hold on to the lead and take the, 4-2, win.

Alex Nagel opened the scoring with a breakaway goal at 14:34 of the first period with assists from Luc Kreuser and goaltender Drew Schenkenberg.

Hunter Johnson gave New Ulm a 2-0 lead with a one-timer from the slot that went in blocker side at the 16:39 mark of the first period. Oliver Hoeschen netted an unassisted goal less than a minute later at 17:17.

Jarrett Cammarata added a power-play goal in the second period at 13:10 with a wrister off a cross-ice pass from Tom Reilly.

Schenkenberg stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced for New Ulm. Baribeau faced 49 shots and made 45 saves for Wausau.

New Ulm and Wausau each totaled four penalty minutes on two infractions. New Ulm went 1-for-2 on the power play and Wausau went 0-for-2.
