The New Ulm Steel Swept the West Division leading Granite City Lumberjacks this weekend with a, 3-2, win on home ice Saturday and a, 6-5, overtime win on the road Sunday.
Jake Ford scored the game-winning goal both nights for New Ulm. Saturday, with New Ulm and Granite City tied at 2-2, Ford buried the go-ahead goal with just 21 seconds remaining in regulation time, giving New Ulm the 3-2 win. Sunday, after five consecutive goals from New Ulm and five consecutive goals from Granite City, the game was forced into overtime. Ford ended the game going top shelf from the slot just 24 seconds away from it heading to a shootout.
Keegan Bauman and Jarrett Cammarata were big contributors, each scoring two goals and tallying one assist. Jordan Cooper helped out with a goal and three assists and Sam Ayd netted one goal and registered two assists.
Henry Baribeau started in net for New Ulm both nights. He faced a total of 69 shots and made 62 saves.
The New Ulm Steel are back on home ice Friday, December 14 where they are set to face off against the Willmar WarHawks.
The NA3HL Showcase starts on Sunday, December 16 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
