The New Ulm Steel is proud to announce that Steel forward Hunter Johnson has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
Johnson, a native of Mankato, Minnesota, spent almost two seasons with the Steel after playing 22 games for the former NA3HL’s Jersey Shore Wildcats during the 2017-18 season. With the Steel, he tallied 20 goals and 30 assists in 75 games played.
“I’d like to thank the New Ulm Steel organization for all they did to help get me to the next level. Great coaching staff and always loved going to the rink and throwing on the Steel jersey. I will miss the team and all the guys next year but ready to get started with school and college hockey at Gustavus,” Johnson said.
Johnson, 20, spent his high school hockey days at Mankato East High School where he played in a total of 79 games, scoring 40 goals and tallying 55 assists.
