The 2020 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament will take place at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, Massachusetts from February 17-18.
The New Ulm Steel was able to nominate three players to the tournament this year, based on win percentage within the West Division. Each divisional team will consist of 20 players (10 forwards, six defensemen, and two goalies.) The West Division will be coached by Todd Sanden (North Iowa Bulls – Head Coach) and Brad Willner (Granite City Lumberjacks – Assistant Coach).
Defensemen Tommy Broten and Teddy Lillico and forward Stanislav Danaev have been chosen to represent the team at the highly-scouted tournament.
Danaev, from Pingviny, Russia, has played in 32 games with the Steel this season. He has recorded 12 goals and 24 assists for a total of 36 points. He has also been credited with four game-winning goals this season. Last year, Danaev played tier II junior hockey for the Western States Hockey League’s Fresno Monsters in Fresno, California.
Lillico, from Red Wing, Minnesota, has tallied 18 points in 28 games played. Lillico has previously played for the Iowa Wild AAA U18 and Red Wing High School and spent his last two years of high school hockey as captain. He is second in points among Steel defensemen, just behind Tommy Broten.
Broten, from Mahtomedi, Minnesota, leads the Steel defensemen in points with 19. He has played in 34 games with the Steel and has scored two goals this season. Broten captained the Mahtomedi High School’s hockey team his senior year.
