The New Ulm Steel is proud to announce that forward Stanislav Danaev has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
“Clearly, going to college is a tremendous step in my life. After a lot of talks with the Gustavus coaches, I decided that Gustavus will be the right place for me to further my development as a player and a member of a social community. The professors and coaches are dedicated and give their whole effort to move their students to the next level of life. I am profoundly excited for the next year, and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Gustavus,” said Danaev.
Danaev, a native of Pingviny, Russia, was the Steel’s leading scorer during the first half of the 2019-20 season. He ended the season with 44 points (17 goals, 27 assists).
“A year in New Ulm gave me unforgettable memories for the rest of my life. The coaching staff is devoted to augmenting their players to new levels of their careers. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the team and have the trust of the coaches throughout the year. Also, thank you to all the guys on the team who were supportive and treated the team as family,” said Danaev.
Prior to his time with the Steel, Danaev played for the Fresno Monsters of the WSHL during the 2018-19 season.
