The New Ulm Steel are proud to announce that defenseman Teddy Lillico has committed to play ACHA hockey at the University of Mary.
“I chose UMary for the great nursing program, small classes, and amazing hockey program. I want to play for UMary because of its early success and its commitment to a strong hockey program and the success of its students. The thing I am most looking forward to playing at UMary is to always be a top team competing for a national championship.”
Lillico, who is a native to Red Wing, Minnesota, has been with the Steel for 2 seasons. In his 2019-20 season, Lillico played in 35 games; he put up 3 goals and 18 assists for an overall total of 21 points. So far this 2020-21 season, Lillico has played in 26 games with 2 goals and 5 assists for a total of 7 points.
“My time playing for the Steel has been great. I appreciate all the lifelong friends that I have gained playing here. The coaching here has also been great, I have learned a lot on the ice and more importantly off the ice.”
Lillico started his hockey career at 3 years old. Growing up he played high school hockey for Red Wing High School for 3 years and then moved onto AAA for the Iowa Wild u18, after graduating, for a year prior to juniors. Lillico will be joining the UMary hockey team for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
